Northwell Cohen's Childrens Medical Center

New Hyde Park, NY

In 2018 Northwell Health was expanding their facility at Cohen’s Childrens Medical Center. When they added (8) operating rooms, they wanted them to be state of the art for both their staff and patients. To achieve this goal the team engaged GBHLS to furnish and install a modular system that combined modular walls and ceilings for a fully coordinated solution.

GBHLS provided our state-of-the-art modular wall system utilizing non-mechanical fasteners that allow for the wall panels to be removed and replaced with a single person, to allow for future work to be done behind the wall system with zero down time of the OR. The modular walls are powder coated stainless steel that incorporate accent walls of artwork printed on glass which gives a more welcoming atmosphere for the staff but more importantly for the pediatric patients and family members who tour the operating rooms before surgery day. The application of murals within the operating room suite is becoming more and more popular with our clients. Additionally, the modular wall system boasts recessed monitors to streamline the appearance while simplifying cleaning and disinfection.

The modular OR ceilings combine the laminar flow diffusers, lighting and structural equipment boom and light support into an efficient and compact system. Which was installed within 5 days saving approximately 10 weeks of work across the 8 operating rooms. The modular ceilings work as a single laminar flow diffuser providing excellent air delivery over the patient and the sterile field as well as providing flexibility making it possible to reconfigure boom locations in the future.
